At the November Legion meeting, a motion was approved for a landscaping project for the front of the Legion Building. The project included removing the grass and weeds around the English boxwoods in front of the building and installing a stone border to enclose the plants. The grass currently around the boxwoods will be replaced with river rocks. Hopefully, this will enhance the appearance of the area and also be low maintenance. The approved budget for the project was no more than $2,000.
Several bids from landscape contractors were received at an average cost of $1,800-$2,000. Buildings and Grounds Chairman George Dellinger decided that the Post could save about seventy-five percent of the estimated cost by doing the work ourselves. Sergeant-At-Arms Troy Kelly volunteered to assist with the project and did most of the heavy work. Thomas Brown trimmed the hedge at the front of the building. Thanks to George, Troy and Thomas for completing this project and saving the Post about $1,500.
