Post 41 has awarded academic scholarships to two graduating seniors from Clarke County High School. Each $2,000 scholarship will be paid to the students’ college accounts prior to the beginning of the second semester. The scholarship recipients were selected by the high school staff using criteria approved by the Post. The criteria included a written essay. The scholarships were presented by Vice Commander Larry Hardesty at the high school’s June 2nd Senior Awards Program.
The recipients of this year’s scholarships are Kara Stockwell, daughter of Mrs. Renee White of Bluemont; and Megan Rion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rion of Berryville. Kara will attend George Mason University and Megan will attend Shenandoah University. Congratulations!
A part of the scholarship application was a written essay on the topic: “What are your life goals and how will this scholarship help you achieve those goals?” The two recipients will read their essays at the July Legion meeting.
