First, determine if you are eligible to join The American Legion. Refer to the Frequently Asked Questions or the Membership Eligibility on the right to help determine your eligibility.
If you are eligible and wish to join, you will need to provide proof of eligibility. This may be verified by presenting a copy of your Form DD214, Certificate of Honorable Discharge, or Current Military Identification Card.
Print and complete a Membership Application. Mail the completed application, a copy of your proof of eligibility, along with a check for your annual dues of $28 the address below.
If you are a current member of The American Legion and wish to transfer to Post 41, you must provide the same proof of eligibility as a new member along with a copy of your current membership card. Print and complete a Member Data Form. Mail the completed form, a copy of your proof of eligibility, and a copy of your latest membership card to the address below. If you have not paid your dues for the current year, please include a check for $28.

You can now renew your American Legion membership online. The online renewal for your membership is the fastest and easiest way to pay your dues. All you need is a credit card and your American Legion ID number. Your ID number can be found on your current membership card.
When you use the online renewal, you will receive a temporary membership card that can be exchanged with your Post Membership Chairman for the regular printed membership card. Your local Post will be notified through the My Legion website that you have renewed your membership. The American Legion will also send your Post a check for the local portion of your dues. It’s easy and it works.
